Intelligent Spas announces first comprehensive report on Spa’s in Cambodia

Cebu’s Plantation Bay Spa ranked one of the best in Philippines

With a score of 90.0, Plantation Bay Resort and Spa ranked 16th out of 25 in the Top Asian Resorts category in the 21st annual Readers’ Choice Awards of US-based Condé Nast Traveler magazine. The Readers’ Choice Awards, which has been going on since 1988, is not only an award for the destinations, lodgings, and modes of transportation that exceed expectations. According to the Condé Nast website, it is also a credit to the worldly expertise of its readers.

For the 2008 survey, a questionnaire was available to all readers through a secure web site. Questionnaires contained lists of candidates (individual cities, hotels, etc.), and write-ins were allowed. Only candidates that received a required minimum number of responses were deemed eligible for an award. Resorts such as the Plantation Bay, were judged according to their activities/facilities, food/dining, location, overall design, rooms and services.

Aside from being ranked number 16 among the resorts in Asia, Plantation Bay, which is wholly Filipino-owned and managed, also prides in being the only resort in the Philippines that was included in the list. Its score of 90.0 also surpassed the scores of resorts located in Phuket, Koh Samui, Bali and Langkawi and is also higher than the scores of other properties in the country which were included in the list of top hotels in the region.

“This is really good news for us because it shows that our guests really enjoyed their experience here enough to actually vote for us. It’s different when somebody really felt so much of an impact from the place that they had something to say about it,” shared PR associate Joanna Marie Cuenco.

Mr. Belarmino and Joanna stressed that the management and staff of the resort really take the comments of guests seriously and that to serve guests better, everyone in the resort gets a chance to be sent to training.

“The management, led by our founder and CEO Mr. Manny Gonzalez, invests on its people. We send staff abroad for training on all aspects of running the resort, from culinary to hotel management, even marketing,” Mr. Belarmino said.

Joanna added that aside from putting premium on customer satisfaction, Plantation Bay also treats its staff like family and are constantly on the lookout for everyone’s advancement.

Three of the resort’s restaurants were also recognized recently by the Philippine Tattler. Palermo, an informal Italian restaurant; Fiji, which serves seafood and other Asian specialties; and Kilimanjaro Kafe are among the best restaurants in the country, according to the Philippine Tattler.

But the management and staff of Plantation Bay are far from resting on their laurels. Mr. Belarmino said that the recognitions that the resort received mean that they have to work harder. “We have to maintain the level of excellence or even surpass it because people would expect a lot from the resort,” he stressed.

Already, Plantation Bay is busy with improvements. Mr. Belarmino shared that the resort has started renovating some of the rooms to give these a new look. With the tall order of being named as one of the top resorts in Asia, guests at the Plantation Bay can expect more improvements, especially since the race for excellence has no finish line.

Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer visited Spa at Camelback Resort

Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer have enjoyed a romantic spa break. The couple – who recently rekindled their relationship after splitting in August following a summer romance – reportedly visited the Sanctuary Camelback Mountain Resort and Spa in Paradise Valley, Arizona, last weekend, where they stayed in a private apartment costing $4,000-a-night.

A source told America’s Star magazine: “Their hideaway was tucked into the mountains and was so private that you couldn’t even see the driveway from the street. Once they checked in, Jennifer and John was never seen leaving their home.”

The couple’s holiday home also came complete with a home cinema, outdoor Jacuzzi and inbuilt flagstone fireplace. Jennifer and John – who enjoyed meals prepared by the spa’s award-winning restaurant during their break – were also seen looking relaxed and refreshed at Los Angeles’ Sunset Tower Hotel on Monday (27.10.08). The former ‘Friends’ actress is said to be the one who initiated the reunion, with some sources claiming the 39-year-old star is pregnant with John’s baby.

La Maison de L’Apothiquaire in Vietnam popular choice with Spa Visitors

La Maison de L’Apothiquaire is emerging as a popular oasis for locals and international visitors seeking a sound mind and body.   The luxury spa chain offers a variety of treatment services in the quiet ambience of its villa facility in HCMC’s District 3.

A path lined with evergreens leads to a French-architecture villa, nestled in a tranquil place a short distance from the bustling Truong Dinh Street. Young ladies welcome guests with a smile which, together with surrounding greenery and pool, provides the first moments of relaxation at La Maison de L’Apothiquaire.

La Maison de L’Apothiquaire specializes in skin and body care using high quality, natural products imported from France. The L’Apothiquaire cosmetics are herbal medicine for the skin, designed to transform the skin after just one treatment, as they are special blends of plant extracts and essential oils.

The ladies accompany guests to a showroom, where they are invited to choose from a selection of spa oils and natural herbal products for their beauty care, facial and body massage and treatment.  After making their selection and a drink, guests are guided upstairs, past pictures featuring traditional and modern massage and treatment techniques, to the suites or rooms.

La Maison de L’Apothiquaire has built its reputation on its ability to personalise service packages using stone, mud and therapeutic techniques for both female and male guests.  Clients will have their skin, body, face and soul treated, wrapped and healed to sound states.

The highlight of the spa is sports care, which is on special offer in response to the needs of people after hours of playing golf and other energetic activities, according to L’Apothiquaire managing director Nguyen Thuy Binh. She says therapists will target their massage and treatment to the muscles and other body areas impacted mostly by sporting activities.

Skin care treatment is also available for men to have their face thoroughly cleansed and steamed to help skin texture and refine pores.

A variety of packages are available for ladies, including skin, neck, back and anti-aging massage and treatment, foot scraping, manicure and pedicure.  These are offered on the first and second floors of the building.

The third floor is home to daily yoga, tai chi and mediation courses for those who are in search of a healthy life style.

Binh says La Maison de L’Apothiquaire will add an aqua-gym next year, to treat guests with joint and muscle problems, in the pool on the left of the villa, located at 64A Truong Dinh Street.

In view of the success of their first four facilities, located on Truong Dinh Street in District 3 and Le Thanh Ton Street in District 1, the Saigon Town and Country Club in District 2 and Sofitel Dalat in Lam Dong Province, the spa chain La Maison de L’Apothiquaire looks set to open its fifth spa at the Sofitel Plaza Saigon on Le Duan Boulevard in the third year of operations in Vietnam.
